The second generation iPod mini (iPod mini 2G) was announced on February 23, 2005.

The iPod mini 2G was a major improvement over the previous iPod mini. It had a larger hard drive (6 GB over 4 GB) and a longer battery life.

Only four colors of the iPod mini (2G) were produced, in contrast to five for the first-generation iPod minis.
