PowerBook 170

The Macintosh PowerBook 170 was the top-of-the-line PowerBook. Introduced in 1991, it remained on the market for a year until replaced by the PowerBook 180.

As the top-end portable in its day, the PowerBook 170 was nearly 50% faster than the PowerBook 140, equipped with a 25 MHz Motorola 68030 chip.

This laptop also came with an optional built-in fax/modem, which was unfortunately difficult to use.

The PowerBook 170 was the first PowerBook with an active-matrix display, unlike the mid-level PowerBook 140 and the low-end PowerBook 100.
