System 7.1.1
From WikiMac, Everyone's Mac Knowledgebase
System 7.1.1, otherwise known as System 7 Pro, was released on October 4, 1993.
System 7 Pro consists of the following updated modules:
- System 7.1.1
- Finder 7.1.3
- QuickTime 1.6.1
- AppleScript 1.0
- PowerTalk 1.0
The System file and Finder updates provide only compatibility with the new features; they, themselves, contain nothig new. Before System Update 3.0, System 7 Pro could not run on a Mac Plus because of a problem with compressed resources, according to Technical Note OS05.
For a short time after its release, people were concerned about the "Pro" factor; namely, if, alongside the Performa systems, the "Pro" systems were to be another parallel release of the Macintosh system software. This never really happened.
System 7 Pro weighed in at USD 150 -- one of the most expensive updates to the Macintosh system software ever.
